Breakfast is the most important meal of the day … and that’s a fact that is certainly not lost on me! Sure, I might not be the earliest of risers, but when I got the chance to head to Trio Café in Greenside, you best believe I made sure to wake up on time.
Trio Café sits on the side of Greenside that’s slightly less explored … you know, around the corner from the bustling hotspots? This place is multi-dimensional in that it has the perfect hangover breakfasts as well as healthier options if, say, you’re meeting up after a morning cycle. Plus, at night it becomes a great watering hole, complete with craft beers on tap. If, like me, you’ve grown tired of the loud club/bar scene and prefer being able to hear the person you are having a conversation with … let’s just say that Trio gets it.
I visited Trio Café on a Sunday morning and I had a rather large appetite. Being both hungry and a breakfast lover, I was surprised to see a menu with … let’s just say, a limited selection. My surprise became even more intense when I realised that, despite not having as many choices as I’m used to from most restaurants, I actually had no idea what to eat. Simply put – everything on the breakfast menu had an original twist to it and, if I could have, I would’ve ordered one of everything. Luckily I have a fiancé whose taste buds differ to mine, which meant I could try more than my share.
The food, the waiters and the atmosphere are all perfect if you’re meeting friends or just want some quiet catch up time with a loved one … even if you’re up for a solo work session fuelled by good food and great coffee, this is the place to be … especially based on the quality and care put into the dishes.
If you’re going to go for breakfast (and I suggest you do!) then I am going to let you in on a secret: make sure you try the corn cakes. It’s like having dessert for breakfast. Sweet, fluffy, full of flavour … and best paired with a cup of Trio’s signature coffee!
