| Top SA bands line-up to perform at The Town Square in March |
The Town Square at Gold Reef City Theme Park is the place to be this March, with a line-up of top live South African acts playing every weekend.
If it’s not trendy and groovy, then it’s not taking place at The Town Square. Join the energetic singer/songwriter Natalie Chapman as she performs on 20 March. Her song "Are you coming home?" reached number 2 on OFM and was on Top 20 lists across the country. For a musical variety which is both pleasant on the eye and gentle on the ear - Backin 5 - a five-piece male vocal group with diverse musical influences ranging from Grace Jones to Ladysmith Black Mambazo - takes the stage on 21 March.
In celebration of Human Right’s Day, catch the funky sounds of the headline band for the month – Teargas – South Africa’s most exciting and vibrant hip-hop group. They’ll be making unforgettable music magic on Monday, 22 March, when the Theme Park will open its gates for the public holiday. Teargas is made up of a vibrant, trendy and like-minded trio with several awards under its belt, including a SAMA (South African Music Award) and a Metro FM award for Best Group.
Tokyo Groove, South Africa's top party band, also features in an awesome month of music that offers something for every taste. The band promises to bring down the house with its rock, reggae and soulful sounds on both 27 and 28 March. Tokyo Groove's debut hit single "Get Down Saturday Night" was a Number 1 hit on 94.7 Highveld Stereo's Homebrew for over a month in September 2009.

The Miner's Revenge puts you in the grasp of a very angry gold miner. Are you brave enough to live through his drilling? This ride rotates at 360° while the seats spin around, dropping you head first, causing you to tumble over into the fountain.

The Anaconda is made just for the adrenalin junky. Take your seat & prepare to curl like a giant snake, roar like a frightened lion and sweat like a scared rat. Welcome to the Anaconda.

If you'll dare to ride the Tower of Terror, you'd better bring an extra pair of pants. You'll be dropped 50m from the crest of the ride at 100km p/h straight into an open mine shaft, though your stomach might stay at the top of the tower.

Twice as nice with Gold Reef City Theme Park’s new 4D shows
Gold Reef City Theme Park is showing two new exciting movies to the 4D Theatre - the first and only 4D cinema in Africa. The new movies, which started showing in March 2010, include an exciting yet humorous science-fiction film called Robots of Mars, and Turtle Vision, a cute coming of age story featuring the adorable sea turtle, Sammy.
For ultimate big screen movie entertainment even more spectacular than 3D movies and high-definition television, the 4D experience stimulates all the senses with hydraulic seats and sensory elements such as gusts of wind, squirts of water and leg ticklers that add an extra dimension to the 3D imagery. Within seconds of the shows starting, you’ll forget you’re in a cinema and become engrossed in your epic journey.
Showing from 09:30 – 11:30 and again at 13:30 – 15:30 everyday, Robots of Mars is a wild and wacky computer animated adventure-comedy set in an all-robot world. In this funny yet exhilarating adventure, you'll meet Sparky the Robot and his band of mechanical misfits, Blasto the Dog, Melody the Bird and Mad Doctor as they save the universe from the evil Supervisor of Mars.
In Turtle Vision, you'll experience the ups and downs of life on land and sea with Sammy, the cutest sea turtle on the big screen - showing from 11:30 – 13:30 and again at 15:30 – 17:00 daily. Follow Sammy and his friends on an exciting journey from the warm waters of the tropics to the icy Antarctic. You'll hold onto an octopus for dear life in the wildest ride you'll ever experience in a cinema and get close to some spectacular coral reefs and their colourful inhabitants.
The 4D Theatre is fitted equipped with high definition video projection and a variety of special effects supplied by Kraftwerk, an Austrian company that has pioneered four dimensional cinema as a new form of entertainment within a movie theatre.
Both movies are between 10 and 15 minutes long.
Wild Wild West - A rootin’, tootin’ barrel of holiday fun at Gold Reef City Theme Park
Gold Reef City Theme Park will once again offer fantastic holiday entertainment – this time in the form of the authentic Wild Wild West adventure show! Direct from Disneyland Paris, Patrick Gruss, will perform in South Africa for the very first time in this action-packed show. This cowboy will keep the audience amused with his amazing whip-cracking, pistol-spinning and trick-roping abilities.
Prepare yourself for a show filled with gun slinging, lasso throwing and whip cracking cowboys, guaranteed to entertain the whole family. Two live shows daily - included in the Theme Park entrance price.
