Honeydew A-Maize-ing Mazes opened in February 2005 and has rapidly become one of Joburg’s best kept secrets. Not only is this a fantastic place for children’s parties or a day out for the family, but it is also a superb venue for team-building or a night out with friends while navigating through the Moonlight Maze!

Honeydew A-Maize-ing Mazes is located on a farm just off Beyers Naude in Honeydew. There are two mazes on offer: the maize maze which is open from January to June, and the Elemental maze which is open June to December. Both mazes are a challenge taking over an hour to complete. The venue is only open on weekends and will not be open during the April school holidays. They are considering opening during the week in the winter holidays, so keep an eye on their website for details.

Other than the maze and other outdoor puzzles, there is also a Coffee Shop that serves light meals, tea/coffee, cold drinks and ice-creams. However, you can pack a picnic basket to take with you on a Sunday. The kids will also love the free-range geese, ducks, chicken and cows wandering around the farm!

The venue is open from 10am – 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays and no booking is needed. Please remember to wear comfortable shoes!

Costs: R70 per adult and R55 per child. There is also a special family price of R220 for two adults and two children. Debit and credit cards are accepted.

The Moonlight Maze is incredibly popular and is opened to the public twice a month. Guests arrive at 5.15pm and can relax in the beautiful surroundings or try some of the puzzles in the courtyard. You can bring your own picnic (or takeaway pizza) to eat as it gets dark and watch while the gardens are lit with fairy lights and candles. After dinner, you are then put into teams and led into the maze, which really is an experience you will never forget. It is just beautiful (and challenging). Once you have completed the maze, you can then enjoy a well-deserved cup of tea or coffee. (This is also a fun idea for children’s birthday parties if your kids are over the age of 12!)

Moonlight Maze Costs: R80 per adult (over 12) and R70 per child. Please note that booking is essential.
Children’s Parties can also be held during the day. The cost is R65 per child (this includes entrance to all the mazes, crisps and fruit juice) and R60 per adult (R10 per adult not doing the main maze). A R500 deposit is needed to secure your booking.
