Big 2017 Sporting Events


Don’t miss out on attending or watching any of your favourite sporting events this year. Below we have compiled a list of some of 2017’s big events, mark it in your calendar!

Africa Cup Of Nations

Held every two years, Africa Cup of Nations is a phenomenal soccer tournament started in 1968. Hosted in Gabon this year, you can watch the AFCON from the 14th of January to the 5th of February. Don’t miss a moment!

Premier Soccer League

The Premier Soccer League also known as the PSL was established in 1996. Hosting soccer games throughout the whole year, and with different teams, keep up with their year’s fixtures’ calendar, starting on the 7th of February. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Midmar Mile

For the world’s largest open water swimming race you definitely don’t want to miss the Midmar Mile. Taking place on the 11 and 12th of February, get your swimming trunks on and stay tuned. Splash splash!

Special Olympics World Winter Games

Held every two years alternating between summer and winter, this year’s Special Olympics World Winter Games will be hosted in Austria from the 14th to the 24th of March. Show your support and tune in.

World Track Championships

This year’s World Track Cycling Championships will be hosted in Hong Kong, China, from the 12th till the 14th of April. Don’t be a track-hater, show your support!

FA Cup Final

All football fans can look forward to the FA Cup Final hosted at the Wembley Stadium in London on the 27th of May. We can feel the competitive tension already…

French Open

Tennis fans, brace yourself for the French Open from the 28th of May till the 11th of June hosted in Paris, France. Well, where else could the “French” Open be?

UEFA Champions League Final

Avid football followers and fans definitely wont want to miss the UEFA Champions League Final hosted at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on the 3rd of June. Ladies, bear with your boyfriends and husbands for this one.

Comrades Marathon

Get your running shoes on and be part of the Comrades Marathon hosted in Durban on the 4th of June. Visit their site for more information about the race.

Tour de France

Calling all cyclists and cycle-watching fans, the Tour de France will be held from the 1st of June till the 23rd of June. You don’t want to miss history in the making.

Vodacom Durban July

For the fanciest and biggest horse-racing sport and fashion event in Africa, you don’t want to miss the Vodacom Durban July. It will be held in July, exact date and theme to be confirmed.

Wimbledon

Another one for the tennis fans is Wimbledon held from the 3rd to the 16th of July. At this rate you might want to buy a racket already and join in the fun, after watching the pros of course.

World Aquatics Championships

If you’re a water lover then you wont want to miss this year’s World Aquatics Championships held in Budapest, Hungary from the 14th till the 30th of July.

Deaflympics

Hosted in Samsun, Turkey this year, the Deaflympics will be held from the 18th till the 30th of July.

The World Games

With a range of sports to enjoy, The World Games will be held from the 20th till the 30th of July in Wroclaw, Poland.

IAAF World Championships

IAAF World Championships is an athletics event to be held from the 4th to the 13th of August at the Olympic Stadium in London.

Women’s Rugby World Cup

From the 9th till the 26th of August you can enjoy some good ol’ rugby at the Women’s Rugby World Cup hosted in Ireland.

Presidents Cup

Gather all your golfing buddies and enjoy the Presidents Cup held from the 28th of September till the 1st of October hosted in New Jersey in the United States.

IWF World Championships

We haven’t forgotten about awesome weightlifters. The IWF World Championships will be held from the 28th of November till the 5th of December hosted at Anaheim in the United States.
