The Northern Suburbs of Joburg have seen a slew of mom-and-kid-friendly establishments cropping up. Drive for a few kilometres in Fourways and you are bound to come across at least three family restaurants, all offering the dining and playground pairing that has become so popular these days. As a mom, I’m grateful that there are so many places to choose from, offering a safe place for my toddler to have fun and for me to enjoy a cappuccino (or three – again, I have a toddler). But setting itself apart from this formula is a place that is doing things a bit differently. Swop a restaurant for a gorgeous baby boutique, throw in some amazing mom (and dad) and baby classes, and you’ve got the ultimate parent spot: The Bub Hub & Company.
Started by sisters Tara and Delia, The Bub Hub aims to be one-stop shop for everything baby and toddler. Book a baby massage class, do a CPR course, or even enrol your toddler in yoga – they offer it all … and they are constantly adding new events and opportunities to the mix. Want a stunning photo shoot of your kiddo? Bub Hub now offers express photo shoots with a professional photographer.
The Bub Hub shop is split into two areas: one part where their classes take place and the other for displaying all the beautiful items they have for sale. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill baby gear … think Scandinavian-style nursery dècor, monochrome and pastel toddler outfits and one-of-a-kind wooden toys. They also stock a range of locally designed and manufactured pieces. While you’re there, you can take a break from the depressing halls of a baby clinic and get your baby’s vaccinations done too – they have an accredited nurse offering the service.
Whether you’re a parent or parent-to-be, be sure to pay a visit to The Bub Hub. Join a class or do some shopping while you’re there – it’s a fantastic place to make new mommy friends.
