While nothing beats a braai with friends and family at home, sharing each other’s company in astonishing city spaces and places is just as special and exciting. Joziburg Lane is just that place and it has plenty to offer visitors this summer.
Joziburg Lane Is Your City Foodie Destination
Joziburg Lane’s food hall and tasting bar is the ideal spot to lounge and indulge in the city. It’s open Tuesday to Saturday each week, and ready to serve delectable local street food with an innovative twist – as well as the best locally-produced, small-batch craft drinks from beer and wine to gins and cocktails.
The food hall is the perfect fusion between a sit-down restaurant and a food market. With seating for over 240 people, guests can sit down, rather than stand, while eating – as is the case so often at food markets. It offers a much smaller selection of food than one-day pop-up markets, but a more carefully-curated collection that showcases locally-produced South African-inspired cuisine. More pop-up stalls join the food hall on Fridays and Saturdays.
Guests can choose from a number of foodie options served by:
- Jeff’s Eats (South African-Indian Cuisine)
- Joziburg Tasting Bar (locally-sourced craft drinks)
- Joziburg Cheesery (cheese platters and cheeses)
- Joziburg Deli (olives, sauces, relishes, preserves inspired by the South African soil)
- Joziburg Panja (pancakes and jaffles)
- Joziburg Rolls (gourmet vegetarian, chicken, salami, boerewors and lamb rolls)
- Joziburg Pies (curry chicken pies and croissants)
- Makoshom (Traditional South African meals)
The food hall is the ideal space to host group bookings for birthday parties, office meetings, team building events, and more.

- Christmas Carols: Thursday Night, 15 December 2016
An African Christmas is a distinctive experience. Think of balmy summer evenings with watermelon and iced drinks spent in the company of family and friends, rather than snow and eggnog. This year the Joziburg Lane presents a Summer Christmas picnic with Christmas Carols.
Paul Emmanuel of Afrikan Child will be joined by a 10-piece performance band, including singers, to lead a night of Christmas Carols – from traditional Christmas songs to famous African melodies. The music will explore the diversity and uniqueness of the summer festive season in South Africa.
The Joziburg Foodhall will be open to serve food and drinks, while the performance will take place in the neigbouring Event Hall. Guests can bring their own picnic blankets and cushions and set-up a picnic station from where to watch the musical performance. Food and drinks must be bought from the street food stalls and tasting bar in the Joziburg Foodhall.
Tickets at R100 per adult and R30 per child available from Tixsa.co.za.
(No seating provided – this is a picnic style concert and guests need to bring their own picnic blankets and cushions).
