Fashion Theme this year: ‘The Games People Play’
The Durban July, after many years of grade A horse racing – having started in July 1987 is back once again to bring you the glamour and excitement you have come to expect from this world class event. Last years race saw screaming fans cheering as Pocket Power and Dancers Daughter share the spoils of the testing 2200 meter track and left fans excited at the thought of the 2009 race.
This year promises to be a success once again, with the usual fan fare and festivities surrounding the actual race, from fashion to rip roaring parties. This years event will play host the usual tirade of specialized marquees to suite everyone’s needs. The fashion lounge is available once again, where the hip and trendy fashionistas meet and watch the race, so book the fashion Lounge if bling is your thing. 5FM will once again be holding a massive after party with the best talent that South Africa has to offer, from DJ Fresh to Roger Goode, not to mention SA’s hottest female vinyl pickers – Lady Lea and Erica Elle. The 5FM party will cost you R180 to R250; the R250 VIP tickets will include access to a whole other floor, (outdoors), which is definitely worth it!
Durban will be on fire as usual during the weekend of the event, with shows, parties and glamour being the order. The Monkey Bar (previously Florida Road) has gotten their own marquee going, with SAMA winners Flash Republic taking to the stage, not to mention the ever popular Coco Loco doing his sunset Dj set at the very reasonable price of R650, and R1500 for VIP. The tickets are very limited, so try book as soon as possible, the marquees truly make the experience a special one, with the feeling that you are something out of hip-hop music video.
So now that you’ve got the round up, you’ll have no excuses for not going out right now to book some fabulous tickets.
