Who is Edith Venter?
Edith Venter effortlessly made the transition from top flight secretary, to executive wife, society hostess and, most recently, formidable business woman. With her boundless energy, she is a highly sought after motivational speaker, and a role model to millions of South African women.
Having long moved in the country’s highest social circles, Edith is in tremendous demand for society events, and continues to grace the society pages with her flawless beauty and undeniable style.
What charities are Edith Venter and the team involved in?
Edith has long supported many charity organisations. Being a dedicated mother to two sons, children’s charities are close to her heart so she supports the JHB Child Welfare. She also supports a list of other charities that aid a number of different causes, including SA Guide Dogs, PEN, Wits Paediatric Fund, Reach for Recovery and the Gerald Fitzpatrick Home.
After losing her beloved father to cancer, she also became a dedicated patron of the Cancer Association of South Africa, and has spent an enormous amount of time and energy caring for and counselling cancer patients and their families. Utilising her fundraising abilities on behalf of the Cancer Association, she proudly handed over R2 million for use in the fight against cancer. Because of her 30 years of experience working with cancer patients, she was awarded one of the highest awards – The Mariette Loots Friends for Life Achievement Award in 2005.
She is also the spokesperson for Osteoporosis through Merck and, most recently, an honorary member of The Right Honorable League of Gentlemen, a combined networking and charity organisation.

Edith’s Favourite Spots In Joburg!
Our city is full of surprises and lovely gems and it’s simply impossible to know about everything that Jozi has to offer! We had the opportunity to ask Edith to share her favourite spots in the city with us, from where to find the best facials to some of the best restaurants!
Q: What is your favourite spa in the city?
Edith: I have two particular spas as I have different treatments done. 1.) Marion on Nicol Spa – Spa de la Veille – because they use my most favourite skin care range, QMS Medicosmetics. I have all my facials done there and they do the full range of treatments with QMS. 2.) Clarins Spa for my body treatments, scrubs and wraps – always feel like a million dollars when I leave.
Q: What is your favourite restaurant in the city?
Edith: Again, there are a few favourites for different things – Four Seasons Hotel, Flame Restaurant for the best view in town and View Restaurant for the best fine dining in town (in fact, in South Africa). Bellagio Restaurant – great food and the best cheese soufflé. Bellgables Country Restaurant – it is a little out of town – in Muldersdrift – but one of my best restaurants in the world.
Q: What do you do for fun in the week in the city?
Edith: Mostly entertain family and friends at home, catch up on all my “me” things and go to the movies over the weekend. I also love going to the Inanda Club for Pub Dinners on a Friday night and lunches over the weekend – really fabulous and special.
