“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, they make them.” – George Bernard Shaw

From School Chairs to Millionaires is an autobiographical travelogue about William Fullagar’s seven years overseas sailing the oceans of the world as a crew member aboard luxury private yachts owned by the obscenely wealthy. He circumnavigated the globe just over three times, the myriad anecdotal accounts of which are peppered throughout his book.

The thirty-one-year-old boykie from Alberton has also infused nuggets of wisdom and advice through the pages for the sole purpose of trying to help youth (Matric students/leavers’, university students/graduates…) learn from his experience – and mistakes – along the way. That is, to avoid adopting the ‘earn it and burn it’ philosophy while on a gap year –or gap years – or during a ‘window’ when they have no idea what the heck they want to do with their life career-wise – or otherwise.

Upon his return William set up Beyond the Dream – Financial Intelligence & Income Development, a company dedicated to helping make people’s ambitions and goals a reality.
