Nature lovers are in for a treat now that Glenburn and Kloofzicht Lodge opened their two walking routes in the Muldersdrift countryside, just 30 minutes from Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Situated within a private game reserve, the nature walks follow two well-marked paths of between one and three hours. The walks meander along the Blaauwbank River, through the gorge, up the rocky back of the Zwartkops Mountain, while offering breath-taking views of the river, fly-fishing dams and the top of the mountain.
In-house guests may enjoy the walking trails with their compliments, while non-residents may utilise the trail when a meal is booked for the group. A Sunday morning walk combined with the delicious Sunday buffet lunches on offer at both Glenburn Lodge and Kloofzicht Lodge is highly recommend. Guides are available on request at an additional fee for groups.
Enjoy the full benefit of the beautiful natural environment by booking affordable accommodation in Bush Willow Tented Camp at the foot of the Zwartkops Mountain – with a warm shower, heated pool and electric blanket on request, even winter camping is possible.
Each tent accommodates up to six guests and includes a warm water shower, a toilet and kitchenette. The camp rests on the banks of the Blaauwbank River and includes a heated pool and an African boma for meal preparation, dining and bonfires. Rates are from R100 per person (terms and conditions apply).
Additional activities include:
Fishing – fishing rods are for hire
Chicama Spa – a welcome relief for sore feet and bodies after the walk
Putt-putt – a fun way for children to spend the day
