“Not since Mango Groove rocked Durban’s Playhouse Opera House in the height of the band’s fame has this reviewer witnessed so ecstatic a theatre crowd reaction to a local performance.“ – Billy Suter, The Mercury
The Sun City Theatre is proud to present the smash hit production Glory Days. Glory Days, is a Barnyard Theatre Production which has thus far received incredible reviews and takes lovers of the magical music of the 80’s for a trip back in time. It is bound together with a hilarious script which was written by Ian von Memerty and is presented by Wally, a stereotypical nerd living in the 80’s and trying to imitate Bruce Springsteen.
Tiann Rautenbach plays Wally and is also the shows lead vocalist. Rautenbach is hilarious with his impersonations of rock musicians – this time taking off 80’s legends such as Rick Astley, Bono from U2, Bruce Springsteen, Richard Marx and Boy George. Also impressive is female vocalist Yvette Barnard with her tributes to Tina Turner and Whitney Houston, while Ernest St Clair, shows off his superb voice when he pays tribute to Bob Marley, Lionel Ritchie and the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
The show also features a highly impressive six piece band consisting of Colin Mairs on saxophone, Roger Grant on guitar, Carl Herring on bass, Conraad Rall on keyboards, Ernest Royppen on trumpet and Colin Heaney on drums.
Throughout the show the pace and the energy of these talented musicians never lets up, and the audience get carried away in a flood of nostalgic eighties music! Songs featured in the show include Billie Jean, Buffalo Soldier, Red Red Wine , Simply The Best, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, and Pride (In The Name Of Love), to name but a few.
The Barnyard Theatre’s shows are specifically designed to encourage audience participation and you can be rest assured that this one will really raise the roof.
