Heilbron was founded in 1872 because of water available for man and animal from the strong fountain. LJ Erasmus baptised the town “Heilbron” that means source of well-being. Situated in the North-eastern part of the Free State in what was traditionally known as the Riemland Area.

Heilbron is spreading its wings in a new tourist direction with four farms trading as wine cellars, several guest lodges in town and surrounding area, hunting opportunities, hiking, fishing and a friendly community providing a holistic package to restore the soul.
