Johannesburg based Jam On Tuesday has been working away in the Jozi scene for a while now. Wednesday, 6th of September sees the band’s labours come to fruition in the form of the launch of their debut album, Scratching The Surface.
Jam on Tuesday play a powerful brand of contemporary rock. Fusing melodic verses with power choruses and dynamic commitment to their cause, Jam On Tuesday deliver a powerful yet delicate line presence. Fronted by the vocals of Gill Persson, the band stands out in stark contrast to the male dominated scene and brings an emotional dynamism to the genre.
Not content with playing a good few gigs, the band has worked very hard in the last twelve months, recording material, a video (currently playing on MK 89 on Dstv) and playing as many gigs as possible. Their clear vision for the future has resulted in airplay on stations as diverse as 94.7 Highveld Stereo, Tuks FM, East Coast Radio, RSG, Radio 2000, CCFM, Highway Radio, UCT Radio, RAU Radio, West Rand Radio, Kingfisher, Link FM, Impact Radio and Rainbow FM.
Their track Dizzy is currently on rotation and playing on Jacaranda FM and East Coast Radio. The band has reached No 1 on Radio Kingfisher for 4 weeks with Don’t Go There, which is also currently on 94.7 Highveld Stereo, and the Top 10 on various other stations.
The album is the natural end result of this hard work, and sees Jam On Tuesday finally in a position to release a full collection of their music. Written, recorded and produced independently, Scratching the Surface will be available in all fine CD stores from September.
