Playing for the Johannesburg Musical Society is high-flying young Russian pianist Margarita Shevchenko, who’ll be performing in the Linder Auditorium, St Andrews Road, Parktown, on Saturday 8th September 20h00.
Margarita Shevchenko is regarded as one of the most exciting young pianists on the international concert circuit, playing regularly in halls such as the Leeds City Hall, Tel Aviv’s Mann Auditorium, Moscow’s Great Hall and New York’s Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center. A top prize-winner at international competitions, her brilliant performances meet with high critical acclaim and she’s in great demand at festivals in Europe and America. She has been called ‘a musician to cherish’.
Her recital on Saturday, 8th of September will feature three Scarlatti sonatas, Handel’s Chaconne in G, Brahms’s Fantasies Opus 116, and two works by Chopin – the Impromptu in F# Major and the Third Piano Sonata in B Minor.
