Let’s Play, a corporate social responsibility initiative developed by SuperSport, aims to elevate awareness of the lack of play, regular activity and sport in the lives of children throughout South Africa.
Lifestyle diseases like obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, which are directly related to inactivity and poor nutrition, are on the increase in young adults. The social ills of drug and alcohol abuse, violence and gangsterism are prevalent in schools and communities where no sporting opportunities exist; sport gives hope, direction and a sense of purpose.
Our major project, run in association with UNICEF and the Department of Education, is Let’s Play a Million; they distribute hundreds of thousands of balls to schools, communities and organisations throughout South Africa. A simple ball enables play for a single child or between groups of boys and girls.
