Lost & Found was born as a 24/7 Church initiative; beginning as a ‘The Apprentice’ challenge amongst the young adults of 24/7 Church. Two teams were chosen for this project with the challenge being to outdo the other team by growing R500 within a two week period. The initial brief given was for the teams to hand out blankets to those in need in the direct community.
Lost & Found is their chosen name and they want this to be so much more than just a once-off challenge. The church aims to grow this initiative into an annual winter blanket and soup drive as well as to build relationships whilst creating positive and real change within the community.
Their initial aim is to reach 1000 people this weekend, but they plan to grow this number year on year. In order to do this they need to form partnerships from all walks of life – whether giving or receiving EVERY HAND COUNTS!
The whole project is very much alive in within the congregation and because it is getting really cold “out there”, there is not much time. They would like to see this initiative snow ball into something much bigger, and need YOU to get involved.
Their special request is for you to partner with them in this Winter initiative by sponsoring blankets or giving a donation so that they can purchase blankets that will be distributed with food which has been generously sponsored by Fruit Spot on Saturday, 4th and Sunday, 5th of July 2009.
This initiative will help 24/7 Church to build relationships, establish the real needs of the community and ultimately offer long term and specific solutions (e.g. medical care, HIV/AIDS testing, job opportunities, counseling etc.)
The venue is all set; trestle tables will be set up and volunteers will be working together making soup and food to be given out to the community. Should you wish to make a dontation, direct deposits can be made into the following account:
