Teenage years are fun, frivolous and can be very confusing. Teenagers are continuously confronted with the question about their future and “what to do when they grow up”. In Grade 9 that question comes to the forefront as teens struggle and agonise over subject choices. As Matric looms, the question of what to do after school becomes even more onerous and the pressure of parents and peers adds to the confusion.
Many teens don’t have a clue about how to make the right subject or career choices. Did you know that the top 10 in-demand jobs in 2010 did not exist in 2004? We are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t exist, using technologies that haven’t yet been invented in order to solve problems we don’t even know are problems yet. The rapid pace of change and technological advancement makes career choices a challenge for this generation.
Now there is a Fairy Godmother to help out.
Over the last four years Donna McCallum, aka the Fairy Godmother has helped over 4500 individuals in South Africa, Europe and the USA to realize their dreams and goals and has helped small and big companies like Nedbank, Mica Hardware, Estee Lauder, Sun International etc. align their teams and start getting the results that they want. Her inspiring talks, workshops and online training programs leave audiences enthralled and able to Dream Big and then just do it!
Her success at helping people realise their dreams led to her being approached by South Africa’s largest publisher to write a book – “The Fairy Godmother’s Guide to Getting What you Want” which is available in stores throughout South Africa.
The Fairy Godmother is now using her wand to help teenagers to get clear on their career dreams and goals to empower them to make the right career choices. Donna has teamed up with Equal Zeal to create a “Map your Dream Career Workshop”. Equal Zeal is a renowned company that provides self-development for children through motivational programmes, coaching, products and resources.
On 2nd October the Fairy Godmother will be running the “Map your Dream Career” Workshop in Johannesburg for Grade 9’s to Grade 12’s. During this highly creative and participative workshop, learners will do exercises to get clear on their passions, talents, strengths and dreams. They will then learn real tools to empower them to take the next steps towards their chosen career.
