Emperors Palace, in association with Etihad Airways and the Shangri-La Hotel in Abu Dhabi is proud to present the Middle Eastern Food Festival from Tuesday, 23rd until Saturday, 27th of June.
Guests will revel in a myriad of tastes, spices and flavours as they savour the delights and specialities from Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, the Emirates, Syria, Egypt, Abu Dhabi and Jordan.
Three reputable chefs from the famed Shangri-La Hotel will prepare wonderful delicacies during the festival. Chef de Cuisine, Chadi Terro, draws on over a decade of expertise in hotels from Lebanon and Qatar to Abu Dhabi. His TV appearances on popular food shows and in the widely sold “Fayrouz” women’s lifestyle magazine have endeared him to the public. Terro will be assisted by Chefs, Alaa Samran and Wael Hassan.
Guests will be treated to a range of Middle Eastern dishes, including salads, soups, Moroccan harisa with dried figs, Alexandrian Mouloukieh with chicken, traditional kebabs, Dawood bacha, and of course exquisite desserts, such as stuffed Mamool, and a selection of Madlouka and Kachta, to name but a few.
Though most of the ingredients used in Middle Eastern food can be found in South Africa, Terro and his two accompanying chefs will be preparing some of the desserts at the Shangri-La. “Arabic Sweets in general require very delicate and extensive preparations,” Terro explains. “So we will be bringing a few of the specialist varieties with us, so that we can concentrate on the basic sweets.”
Guests will be treated to a traditional Arabic welcome drink and will be able to enjoy an enticing buffet and dip into the delicacies offered at live cooking stations on the terrace.
Tickets for the Middle Eastern Food Festival are R195 per person. Tickets for the special gala dinner on Saturday, 27th of June in Assembly Rooms (in the Convention Centre) is R250 per person.
Dates: Tuesday, 23rd until Saturday, 27th of June 2009.
