Join aKING, Fokofpolisiekar, Zebra & Giraffe and Tidal Waves for a fantastic day in the park to celebrate South African music and support a very good cause at the same time.

Forming part of the popular Old Mutual Encounters Series, the show features the bee’s knee’s of the SA music scene, all coming together to support the Vrede Foundation for Young People with Cancer, a foundation founded in 2008 with the primary focuses of generating awareness amongst the younger generation (ages 13-28) regarding Cancer and the Youth as well as providing financial aid to young people and their families struggling while undergoing expensive chemo therapy treatments.

The bands playing on the day are all personally touched by the cause and are therefore keen to help in using this show to create awareness around cancer and the effects on youth. Earlier this year the South African Music industry was shocked when fellow ‘blood brother’ and creator of the Afrikaans platform Music channel – Mk – Herman Pretorius was diagnosed with Stage three Testicular Cancer, secondary Limph Cancer and Tertiary Lung Tumours. That day Herman fell into depression, losing half his body weight but he refused to die, saying “I will not become a statistic, I’m not going to die like this”.

The official Launch of the Vrede Foundation and the first Vredefest was held in Hatfield Square in Pretoria on Valentines Day 2009. It was a great day of live music with South African heavyweights, Crash Car Burn, Ef-el, Klopjag, Wonderboom and Van Coke Kartel. More than 2500 people attended the launch and a total R100 000 was accumulated and donated to the Vrede Foundation.

Don’t miss this once off musical experience and support the SA music as well as helping countless young cancer victims cope with their fight.

Presale tickets can be bought from www.tunegum.co.za and tickets can also be bought at the door on the day for R70 per ticket.
