Res Gallery, also located on the Art Strip on Jan Smuts Avenue, mainly focuses on less traditional and more digital art and media. The space is intimate, welcoming and quite interactive, giving you a more rounded exhibition experience.

On the same Art Strip on Jan Smuts, you will also find this intimate space that recently opened a second branch located in Maboneng Precinct by Arts on Main. The gallery promotes and exhibits a range of artists, mainly in the fine art and experimental art department.

This gallery, located on 11 Chester Road in Parkwood, is a nifty artists’ hub that will have your creative juices gushing the minute you enter the gallery. Focusing on contemporary artists, not only can you feast your eyes on magnificent visual pieces, but you can also buy art at affordable prices.

SoMa Art + Space

This double-storey space is located in Maboneng Precinct, and has a jazzy and warm atmosphere that encourages interaction with the artworks and other guests. With a bar on the first floor, the tradition of wine and art is sustained.

ABSA Gallery

Best known for exhibiting some of South Africa’s finest artists, this gallery, located on 161 Main Road in Joburg CBD, is a must-visit. Creating a platform for artists and architects to interact in a unique manner, gallery-goers also get a chance to meet the exhibited artists and the team behind them.

Be one with all the cool kids of Johannesburg and visit AREA3 gallery, located in Braamfontein. AREA3 is far from a traditional art gallery as it mainly focuses on popular culture, specifically footwear and apparel. AREA3 is also home to Adidas style.

Also located in Braamfontein, this gallery has been host to contemporary groups and solo artists. Their exhibited artists’ shows offer diversity to the art world in general.
