Nice Is Just What Its Name Suggests

Nice is a gem in Parkhurst that serves up fabulous cake, cute and tasty bacon and egg baskets and is also the perfect spot to get some people watching in. What more could you want from a café?

This spot on Parkhurst’s 4th Avenue strip is always busy – and not for no reason. Try them out for a breakfast with the girls, a brunch date or a tea-time family outing, but whatever you do, be sure to order the egg baskets.

Nice is probably most well-known for these delicious little creations and yes, they’re exactly what they sound like – pieces of bread, baked to form toasty baskets that are then filled with eggs. The classic comes with poached eggs, crispy bacon and tomato relish and is divine, while the salmon basket is for the non-bacon eaters out there and is made with scrambled eggs, topped with smoked salmon, relish, cream cheese and chives. There is a veggie option, too, so don’t fret if you don’t eat meat.

So, those are the real winners, but you can’t really go wrong at Nice. Their crumpets are excellent and come in a stack of three with layered marscapone, bacon and strawberries, drizzled with maple syrup. You’re drooling already, aren’t you?

Lunch options include pasta, homemade pies, open toasted sandwiches and a range of salads . And don’t even get me started on their cakes. By the way, you can order whole cakes so keep that in mind the next time there’s a special occasion (or the next time your sweet tooth really starts acting up).

Visit Nice on 4th – it’s especially great in the warmer seasons where you can perch yourself on the pavement and settle down for good food, great dessert and entertainment in the form of people watching.
