Artist and graphic designer, Nonku released an upbeat dance song entitled Ready Set Go. The track was done for ABSA’s ReadyToWork campaign – an employability initiative which helps train, prepare and equip young people for the professional world. The song is a way to get the message across. The idea behind the song is to encourage and inspire young people to go for gold and achieve their dreams by investing in their future. From compiling a CV to going for a job interview, ReadyToWork has it all.
For Nonku, the youth of today are more than fit to be the leaders of tomorrow. “They have proven themselves in recent time,” she says, “and they have stood their ground.” They have the knowledge and the eagerness to learn and to improve not only their own lives but that of those around them.
As a young professional herself, Nonku has worked her way through the ranks – from a humble graphic designer to a well established art director. She has made the future her own through hard work and an eagerness to learn.
The song also features hip-hop artist, Lebo Mochudi who is known for collaborating with local legend, Tumi Molekane. Lebo believes skill enhancement and education of the youth is imperative for our society. For Nonku, working with Tumi is like working with a friend – mainly because they have been lifelong friends. The two gelled extremely well together in studio and it shows in the track: from catchy beats to flowing rhymes, it’s all there.
