Movie fans can look forward to a big weekend at the box-office with the release of a much awaited new Tarantino film and a popular nineteenth century French musical.
Django Unchained is the latest offering by Inglorious Bastards director/writer Quintin Tarantino. The story covers Jamie Foxx, a freed slave who is on a mission to free his wife from a particularly cruel plantation owner played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Nominated for five Oscars and with knock-out reviews from abroad, Tarantino seems set to please fans once again.
The timeless story of ex-convict Jean Valjean, interspersed with political and social situations brought about by the French Revolution and told through the musical genre. Fans of the theatre production will love it with a star cast featuring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried.
Playing for Keeps
For something a little more light-hearted, Playing for Keeps is a romantic comedy starring Gerard Butler as a ex-soccer star desperatly trying to settle down. Fate leads him to coach soccer at school level where he meets soccer-moms who appear adamant to pursue him. Featuring Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dennis Quaid and Judy Greer, the cast seems enough to keep this film going smoothly.
