Avon Justine invites all and sundry to the 2011 iThemba Walkathon in October. Now in its sixth year, the fun filled affair is held annually in Johannesburg and Cape Town to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer education in South Africa. As always families, children, singles, groups, even four legged friends are welcome!
While the event itself promises to be entertaining, this is done without undermining the underlying reason for the Avon Justine iThemba Walkathons. As such breast cancer survivors, dressed in pink Avon sashes will lead the event. Gerry Elsdon, Avon celebrity spokesperson and iThemba ambassador will keep walkers company. Other activities on the day include prizes for the best pink walking gear, a Kiddies Corner, Toddler Trot, and food and display stalls.
Tickets can be bought at only R65 each while tickets for children under 12 are R45. Walkers will receive a goodie back which must be collected before the day of the event and have the option of participating in the 8km walk which begins at 8h00 or the 5km walk which follows at 8h30. Group entries and corporate packages are also available.
All walkers must pre-register participants and those who do so by Wednesday 5 October 2011 for the Johannesburg Walkathon will be allocated goodie bags.
