As the year draws to a close, many of us have already started to plan our festival holidays, most of which will result in an almost mass exodus to South Africa’s coastal regions.
PEN wishes to achieve its annual goal of raising sufficient sponsorship to realise the seaside dreams of some 120 disadvantage children. The very first Sea Camp comprised of 46 children at a total cost of R140 per child, per week. Today, accommodation and food costs alone are total R180 000.
Children from Grades 3 to 12 qualify to attend the annual camp, provided they have regularly attended and participated in PEN’s various supportive children’s programmes. The camp is split into two age groups. PEN hopes to accommodate this year’s younger children at the AEB Campsite, situated within close proximity to Pennington Beach. The teenage contingent will hopefully take up residence at the Kinderstrand Campsite at Glenmore Beach.
They are not only in need of cash donations, but items such as cookies, rusks, sweets, sunblock, juice, towels and small Christmas presents.
