Pub Styled Restaurants for Fathers Day

Spoil dad this Father’s Day by sticking him for lunch at one of these pub inspired restaurants.

If there’s one reason to take dad to ThundeGun on his special day then it’d be the ribs. Ribs. Yes, ribs galore. The steak is pretty good but the ribs. Oh my! Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time because ThunderGun fills up pretty quickly.

The Griffin

A gastropub is a restaurant that serves very good, fancy food with very good, fancy beer. The Griffin has been known to be one of Joburg’s best gastropubs, serving suds from six of the country’s best breweries. Their menu is made up of dishes we wish we could eat every day. Our top pick would be the slow roasted pork belly served on potato and onion bake with fresh peas, asparagus and a jus.

The Butcher Shop and Grill

Treat dad to one of the best steak houses in Johannesburg. The Butcher Shop and Grill in Sandton is the place to get your grub on in a neat, big pub type of environment. The steakhouse serves nine styles of steak, of which each is just as good as the last. Be sure to give The Butcher Shop and Butchery a call ahead and book yourself a table or three.

If you want to spoil your pops with a craft beer selection spanning three pages of a restaurant menu then reserve seating at Steamworks in Fourways. Our absolute favourite dish on the menu would be the Asian braised and ground pork burger with hoisin mayo, lime-coriander gremolata and handcut chips.
