Situated in a quiet little centre in Magaliessig (not far from Design Quarter), Society Eatery & Craft Bar is a stylish little eatery focused on two things: a wide selection of craft beer on tap and tasty foods to accompany it. It’s simply perfect!
My favourite thing about Society is the Tap Wall. Their tap wall boasts 12 taps and each one will feature a different tasty beer from their menu. There are so many places that fly the craft flag but don’t deliver when it comes to beers on tap. We can all buy bottled beers at our local bottle store, but it’s the taps that make a difference.
Their beer menu is spectacular – everything from CBC to Cockpit Brew House makes an appearance – but let’s not forget their unique food menu which I really think adds that extra touch. The food menu features everything you might need like fillet steak or beer battered hake and chips but the thing that really stands out for me is the variety of finger-type foods. They serve boards with the tastiest snacks imaginable from Crispy Prawns, Zuchini Fries, Bitterballen and Lamb Riblets, to Salt & Pepper Squid Heads and Parmesan Chicken Popsickles. I visited Society with my brother and we both ordered the lamb riblets without a second thought. They came in a little pile with Asian dipping sauce – awesome!
The space is well designed and features a huge outside seating and bar area, a stylish, almost lounge-like restaurant space inside, as well as the Tap Wall and indoor bar seating area. Their modern look and feel is slick but don’t let the glam fool you – their service is friendly and efficient. We found ourselves having chats with our waitress and the manage, both were very accommodating.
They are still working on a few areas of the restaurant. It looks like they are working on an awesome water feature outside and the Tap Wall is still being assembled. They don’t currently have all the beers advertised as they are still working on their license, but the manager did mentione that this would be resolved during the course of the week so I imagine it’ll be sorted soon.
