The Benoni City Times will be holding a fundraiser for the iThemba Rape Crisis Centre at the John Barrable Hall on Saturday, 25th of November.
The day promises to loads of entertainment which will include the Miss Benoni beauty pageant, food stalls, a beer tent with a cover band, as well as 5 of South Africa’s favourite bands. Starting at noon, The Death Valley Blues Band, The Hellphones, The Vendetta Cartel, The Slashdogs and Fuzigish will all be playing their role in empowering victims and survivors of rape and sexual violence.
There is a R60 cover charge for the bands, but all funds raised on the day will be going to the Rape Crisis centre. Please come and make your voice hear against rape and do your part for social responsibility for a day. Come and support the bands who are taking time out of their very busy schedules to not only help raise funds, but also raise awareness for the cause. Every one of us has in some way been affected by rape — be it yourself, or your sister, your girlfriend or a relative who has had to experience such a traumatic ordeal.
iThemba Rape Crisis Centre provides the obvious medical support and emotional counseling to victims and survivors of rape, but also supplies anti retrovirals to the victims as well as pregnancy tests. Your support for this event will allow them to continue their good work and to reach and educate more people in the East Rand while saving more lives.
