With the afternoon sky a brilliant burnt orange and the stars inching into the night sky, the tone of the evening was set for the theme “Orange”! Inspired by the colour of the Starfish, this was the setting for the Long Long Table dinner hosted by Starfish in Melville last year. With a variety of decadent cuisines and selection of wines for every palate, it was an evening fit for the stars.
With 2005 being a great success, it was no surprise when the demand to host another dinner this year was voiced. So in true Starfish style they set alight the streets of Melville yet again. Splashed with an array of colour and creative flair, the dinner left guests yearning for more.
The restaurants of foodie-famous Melville cooked up a gourmet storm to serve to Starfish supporters under the stars. Guests dined on a spring evening street, and sat at the longest table you could imagine! The chefs served a culinary delight in the incredibly beautiful surroundings and all proceeds from the meal will help feed the children that Starfish supports.
The “long long long” table was divided into numerous sections and more than 30 restaurants provided award-winning three course menus for guests to choose from. This year’s theme was “stars” and the restaurants competed with one another to produce the very best cuisine. Their culinary masterpieces were judged by the SA Chefs Association, together with national gourmet experts. Starfish is extremely grateful to Visa for sponsoring this event. Guests were also encouraged to dress up in a “starry” way for the chance of winning a prize for the best costume of the evening.
