Well, then look no further, as Avon Justine iThemba will be hosting their 10th annual walkathon on Sunday, 25 October 2015 at Marks Park! So, if you are looking to contribute to this amazing initiative focused on breast cancer, then be sure to preregister now!
Since 2006, Avon Justine has been hosting the annual iThemba Walkathon in order to help raise breast cancer awareness and spread the message that early detection saves lives. In 2014, the event attracted a record 21 500 participants, making it the largest event of its kind.
As part of their Beauty For A Purpose programme and in celebration of the 10th iThemba Walkathon, they are hoping to have 25 000 people walk in the crusade against breast cancer this year; sharing the message that early detection saves lives, showing support for the survivors and walking in remembrance of those who have sadly lost the battle.
What is it?
Get out your walking shoes, dust them off and make your way to Marks Park in order to raise awareness for breast cancer! The event will start with a 7.9km and a 5km walk at 08:00 and 8:30 respectively, with livewire entertainment from Kaya FM DJs and performers. There will also be numerous enterprising food stalls and other activities available for participants to enjoy once they cross the finish line. And, if you need to keep the little ones entertained while you do your bit to raise awareness, dont fret, as there will also be a kiddies corner to keep the toddlers and young children busy. Also, get the opportunity to meet the celebrity spokespeople, Pabi Moloi, Azania Mosaka, Pearl Modiadie and Queen Motatle amongst others celebrities who will be there on the day.
Walkers will also have the opportunity to make history through the #PoutForAPurpose world record attempt at this years iThemba Walkathon. This will be an Avon world record attempt for the most number of people applying lipstick at the same event. For those not based in Johannesburg or not taking part in the walkathon put on your pinkest Avon pout, take a photograph and upload it to social media and #PoutForAPurpose.
