Hailing from the mid-western states of The USA, The Ataris will perform at four exclusive shows in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria this May before returning to headline The Warped Tour in America.
The Ataris peaked radio charts in South Africa with their top ten hit singles, “In This Diary”, “”The Saddest Song” and their chart topping version of the Don Henley song “The Boys of Summer” from the platinum selling album, “So Long Astoria”.
The band members of The Ataris are currently hard at work recording their so far untitled new full length album due to coincide with their Warped Tour booking. However, a special limited edition live EP will be released in South Africa for the duration of the tour, available exclusively at the shows. Songs especially hand picked by the band for their South African fans. The EP features classic hits such as “The Boys of Summer”, “Your Boyfriend Sucks”, “All You Can Ever Learn is What You Already Know”, “Unopened Letter to the World”, “IOU One Galaxy” and “Satellite”.
The new album marks a return to the big sing-along choruses, massive hooks, and upbeat power pop anthems of their earlier albums “Blue Skies, Broken Hearts…” and “So Long, Astoria”. And some of these new hits will be performed live with their old smash hits.
Authentic Ideas will be holding Support Search Shows in March around the country, to ensure that the public gets a chance to choose who they want to see on stage alongside The Ataris.
