Le Grand Cirque
Nelson Mandela Theatre
Show starts on Thursday, 3rd of July 2008

The Johannesburg Civic Theatre is thrilled to announce an exclusive visit to South Africa of producer David King’s international touring phenomenon Le Grand Cirque from July 2008.

As David King tells the story: “Le Grand Cirque originally premiered at the Palace Theatre, South Carolina, USA, in 2004. But the story actually starts in 2000 when we began our journey around the globe in an extensive hunt for specialist circus talent. This has been a truly fascinating journey that took us to many continents and introduced us to amazing international cultures on our travels. We saw talent we never before thought possible, visiting training schools in Asia, Africa and Europe where some of the world’s finest athletes train relentlessly 16 hours a day. The performers in Le Grand Cirque cannot simply be classified as acrobats or jugglers. They are first and foremost artists performing a visual poetry of unbelievable physical talent, excellent skill and first class choreography.”

Le Grand Cirque has played to sell out audiences around the world including Asia, Australia, Europe and throughout the United Kingdom. Created by an award-winning production team, including director Alan Harding, this wonderful show features an international line-up of some of the world’s finest acrobats, jugglers and gymnasts in an enchanting and mesmerising spectacle of entertainment.

This is the perfect show for all the family as it brings to the stage breathtaking excitement in a magnificent extravaganza that will leave audiences spellbound. Stunning costumes, awesome lighting, hi-energy dancing and thrilling music will enthral and entertain in this magical wonderland of amazement.

Le Grand Cirque performs on the Nelson Mandela Theatre stage of The Johannesburg Civic Theatre for a strictly limited season during its world tour. Shows are at 20h00 Tuesdays to Fridays, at 15h00 and 20h00 on Saturdays and at 14h00 and 17h00 on Sundays.
