The Urban Assault MTB has become THE premier event in Gauteng. Prepare yourselves for the sixth running of this race. Bring the whole family! Urban Assault 2006 – BRING IT ON.
Awesome single-track sections in this race are never disappointing, year after year. There are amazing variations in the route, discovered by the organisers who spend many hours discovering and linking these trails for a varied and interesting ride. There literally is everything to challenge the dirt warriors from deep sand, rutted descents and surprising climbs. This race is awesome. A brilliant route, always challenging, always more enjoyable than the year before. Plenty of technical climbing, some decent, winding single-track, some vicious drop-offs (and consequently, some vicious short climbs). There are also some really cool quarry sections, which keep you on your toes, and keep the heart rate up.
The Race starts from the Roodepoort Athletic Stadium. If you’re there for the fun, bail out and enjoy the extra festivities. A few chicken runs will let you off if it all gets a bit much! Besides the quivering you’re experiencing right now, the race is extremely enjoyable.
Those privileged who have ridden this race testify to its enjoyment. The race is high profile, well sponsored, and professionally administered, doubling its numbers every year. But wait, there’s more. There is more than just the race on the day.
There are first aid and emergency facilities, food and drink stalls, a beer garden, kiddies area for 10 years and under (sponsored by Nando’s) and more at the start finish area for all. Security will be present on the day and on the track to secure you, your vehicles and possessions.
The Kiddies area includes the following:
– Jumping Castle
– Professional child minders for each activity
– Face Painting
– Manager (handles entrance and exit to crèche and oversee area)
– Colouring & Drawing area with tables and chairs
– Nando’s entertainment Chicken
– Snacks and suckers for children
– Lucky draw prizes / gifts / T-shirts for children
– And loads more…
– All this only R5 per child
