In keeping with Women’s Month and honouring our sporting heroines, it was the SPAR gsport Awards this past Saturday. It’s been quite a remarkable year for South African women in sport and, for that reason, they deserve recognition. One of the highlights of the awards was, of course, our Olympic gold medallist winner Caster Semenya receiving the Athlete of the Year award.

Last Friday, we also honoured women in business. The Businesswomen of the Year awards were held in Sandton, and it saw extraordinary women being celebrated. One of the stand-out moments at the awards was when Graca Machel took the Lifetime Achievement Award.

In sport news, the Springboks played Argentina on Saturday and sadly lost 26-24. Having said that, our blood will always be green and gold, and win or lose, we are still behind you.
