Let’s face it, your pooch is pretty much part of the family – so doesn’t that mean that your furry bundle of joy should get to go out on the town with you every once in a while as well? Unfortunately restaurants and canines don’t always go together but, believe it or not, there are a few spots in Jozi where you can take your dog along to enjoy a meal with you. Here is our list of Top 10 Dog-Friendly Restaurants in Joburg.


Vovo Telo (Sandton)

If it’s great breads and oh-so-yummy pastries you’re after, you can’t go wrong with Vovo Telo on Grayston Drive. They’ve got water bowls for dogs in their outdoor area so you can sit outside and enjoy the sun with your pooch.

Salvationcafé (Milpark)

Salvationcafe is known for healthy food with tons of flavour. Pop in for lunch with your dog and dig in to Thai-style fishcakes with Asian greens and a sweet-chilli dipping sauce, or the tempura five-spice calamari.

Walkhaven Dog Park (Zwartkop)

This one’s a no-brainer! Situated on 22 hectares of grassland, Walkhaven Dog Park was created to provide your furry friends with a safe and beautiful place to run, swim and play. You’ll love the large dam, braai and picnic facilities so you can dine alfresco with your pup. If you’re just wanting a quick bite, step in to The Walkhaven Kitchen for breakfast or a light lunch.

Opening times: Walkhaven Dog Park is open Monday to Friday: 07:00 – 18:30pm. The restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday as well as public holidays from 08:30 to 16:30.

Espresso (Parkhurst)

Espresso is famous for their prego rolls, so treat yourself to one while you hang out with your dog. Their delicious gourmet pizzas with a thin and crispy base are also worth a try! Take note that Espresso is a cash-only venue.

Full Stop Café

You and your dog will love the garden at Full Stop Café – it really is the perfect spot to get away from it all. If you’re particularly hungry, try the bacon burger or the halloumi sandwich – yum!

Delta Café (Craighall Park)

If you are at Delta Park and are feeling peckish after taking your four-legged companion for a stroll, then be sure to head to Delta Café. Bikers, runners and pooches are all welcome to sit down, relax and grab a bite to eat. Their menu is quite impressive and reasonably priced. And, to cool off, there is a doggie well for your pooches to grab a drink after their run and play session in the park.

Nice on 4th has become one of Joburg’s favourite breakfast spots. They offer a variety of treats from their signature egg basket to great coffee and tempting baked goodies if you have a little bit of a sweet tooth. So, sit back, relax and enjoy a lazy afternoon with your furry friend. They will be catered to with a water bowl.

Voodoo Lily Café (Birdhaven)
