The Countess

Tucked away inside 27 Boxes in the eclectic suburb of Melville is The Countess; a charming steampunk meets American smokehouse-style restaurant. The industrial décor and vibrant atmosphere is sure to thrill you, but then again, so is The Countess Burger, or the Truffle Mac & Cheese. After scoffing down your generously-sized main meal, you may think you have no space left for the Pot de Crème, but carry on – the decadent dessert that is an interesting twist on your standard crème brulee is not to be missed out on.

SPECIALTIES

Perron Bryanston

You may associate the trendy, well-loved Mexican joint that is Perron with the bustling suburb of Illovo, but did you know that they’ve just opened up another restaurant in Bryanston, too? That’s right, your favourite spot for burritos and margaritas is now open in two locations. If you haven’t tried them out yet, get down to their new restaurant as soonest … everything is sure to delight you, from the wonderfully loud interior and festive atmosphere, to the moreish churros and potent tequilas.

Baha Taco

Another new Mexican eatery in the city, Baha Taco is a quaint and rather quirky little place that serves up some very tempting dishes, such as a dreamy halloumi-filled taco, which I just can’t seem to get enough of right now. I’m also a huge fan of their décor – think a pink pizza oven (yes, a pizza oven in a Mexican spot, don’t ask questions, just know that it works!), mosaicked table tops and cacti displays. This all makes for a cosy, comfortable setting to munch on simple Mexican food done well.

Everything at this modern Italian spot is handmade from scratch, and you can bet that the fresh, flavourful ingredients shine through in every finished dish. The eatery presents a homey atmosphere, which makes it a fantastic intimate spot for a dinner with that someone special or even a group of close friends. And be sure to end your meal off with one of their specialty coffees – it’s sure to be love at first sip.
