No, this isn’t something solely reserved for the gym freaks among us. It’s actually such a time saver for everyone – and it means that you can pack nutritious foods into your lunchbox so that you won’t default and visit the take out spot next door when you start to feel peckish. Either set one day a week aside and make food in bulk or give yourself about 20 minutes each evening to make food for the next day. It really doesn’t have to be complicated, here’s an example of what you can pack:
Breakfast: overnight oats – soak half a cup of raw rolled oats in warm water, chop up a banana, some nuts and honey if you’d like and that’s that.
Snack: half a mango.
Lunch: a salad with quinoa, baby spinach, chicken, tomato, cucumber and feta.
Snack: a small snack bar (home made is best).
See, it’s easy!
Plan Your Outfit
We all have wardrobe crisis’ now and again – and they really tend to make you start the day off on a bad note. Why not plan your outfit the night before so that you don’t have to deal with any self-inflicted drama? Think about what lies ahead in the day – do you have an important meeting? Is it casual Friday? That way, when you wake up, you won’t have to think twice before throwing your outfit on.
Go To Bed Early
We all know how it is – you say you’ll get those eight hours of Zzzs in but you get distracted by social media, a phone call or the latest series… and before you know it, those eight hours have become five and you wake up red eyed, promising not to do it again. We suggest cutting off from your phone, laptop or TV at least an hour before you go to bed. Pick up a book, make yourself some chamomile tea and close your eyes… you’ll drift off in no time.
Use A Sleep Cycle Alarm
Sleep Cycle is a great app that wakes you up at the right point in your personal snooze cycle so that you don’t feel sluggish, grumpy and exhausted when your alarm goes off. The idea of the app is based on the fact that waking up is all about timing, so it tracks your sleep and goes off when you’re in a light sleep, so that your wake up feels natural. The app also gives you data on your sleep patterns so that you can analyse them in the morning.
Change Your Mindset
No one likes waking up early but, at the end of the day, it’s all about your frame of mind. Give yourself something to look forward to when you wake up – whether you’ve set your favourite song as your alarm tone or you’ve prepared a delicious breakfast; it’s the little things that will make a big difference… try it out for yourself, you’ll see!
