Top Factory Shops in Johannesburg

We all love a good deal, especially this time of year when our credit cards are scuffed and bruised from abuse, but we here at Joburg.co.za understand your pain and have listened to your pleas. So, without further ado, here is our list of Joburg’s best factory shops and outlet stores.

This time of year is when our credit cards are scuffed and bruised from abuse. Here is our list of Joburg’s best clothing factory shops and outlet stores.

Big L’s

A favourite among the students of Johannesburg, Big L’s is a Levi’s Factory outlet located at the Woodmead Retail Park. They mainly stock classic 501 straight cuts and 507 boot cuts, but they do also have limited bits and pieces from bigger collections like the twisted fit, commuter and curve. They also stock shirts, the odd accessory and shoes but in very limited numbers. Now for the big question – how much do they cost? You can get a pair of jeans for roughly R500 and a shirt for around R250 but bear in mind that it really depends on what the item is. Commuter jeans will never cost you R400.

Address: Woodmead Value Mart, Corner Waterval Crescent and Woodlands Drive, Woodmead

Coricraft

Coricraft is one of South Africa’s favourite furniture stores and for good reason – their furniture is simply stunning, inspiring visitors to drop cash or card at almost every visit. The problem is that we can’t all afford to kit our houses in full Coricraft, as much as we might want to. The answer? Coricraft has a factory shop in Wynberg and it goes without saying that you can get great end-of-range furniture here without breaking the bank. Tip: Like most factory shops, these are limited, end-of-range products, so it’s probably advisable to visit every few weeks. Don’t expect everything you’ve ever dreamt of in one visit, it’s just not realistic.

Address: Unit A, Game Complex, corner Arkwright Avenue and 4th Street, Wynberg

Big Blue Clearance Store

Big Blue makes some of the coolest T-shirts in the world. Ever seen someone wearing a really clever shirt with a truly South African joke on it and wondered where it was from? That would be Big Blue. Trust us, if you’ve never popped into one of their shops you really have to. Their summer gear is original and well fitting but, let’s face it, anything that cool can’t be cheap and you’d be right to assume it. That’s where the Big Blue Factory Shop comes in. They stock all the same awesome kit at a fraction of the price. Buy a few shirts at the beginning of summer and you’ve got your tees covered for the rest of the season.

Address: 57 Third Avenue, Linden

Geldof Chocolatiers

We all know and love Geldof Chocolatiers. They make chocolate everything, from Easter eggs to truffles. But did you know that they have a factory outlet in Randburg, which stocks all their amazing chocolate at wholesale prices and direct to the public? Well, they do and we once bought a whole pack of truffles for only R30. Yes, it really is that cheap, but if you don’t believe us then head out there today and take a look for yourself. Tip: Ring the doorbell a few times before giving up, as they are often busy in the back, making chocolate like a team of Oompa Loompas.

Address: Unit C1 Mikro Industrial Park, 17 Hammer Avenue; Strijdom Park

Lorna Jane

Lorna Jane is a ladies sportswear brand with a focus on looking good while staying fit. The tees and sports bras often don inspirational slogans like “Believe” or “Never Give Up” but the well-thought-out designs, including slim zip pockets and easily adjustable straps, are really the unique selling point. Their products, like most well-designed brands, don’t come cheap but luckily they’ve opened this awesome outlet store in Randburg, which will have you looking like a Hollywood jogger in no time. Here, you can buy packs of tops and bras at reduced prices. Your plan to get fit this year will go so much better in these uber-stylish gym threads!

Please note this store is closed until further notice. Keep your eyes peeled!

Address: Unit 8 Skyview Retail Park, Corner C.R Swart Drive and Freda Street, Strijdom Park

Forever New

Forever New are those guys who make really flashy dresses and have had girls in Joburg going mad since their release here. Which is why you need to make a stop by this factory shop. Joburg’s Darling first put us on to them, you can read her review here.

Address: World Wear, Corner Beyers Naude Drive and Wilson Street, Fairland

This time of year is when our credit cards are scuffed and bruised from abuse. Here is our list of Joburg’s best clothing factory shops and outlet stores.

World Wear

World Wear is actually a shopping centre out in Fairland, but they boast a wide range of factory shops, from Timberland to Diesel, and just about everything else you can possibly imagine. Take a morning out on the weekend and spend it walking through the many factory stores on offer. It’s also the perfect place to go shopping for brand-conscious teenagers. Spend half the money while still quenching their thirst for brands.

Address: Corner Beyers Naude Drive and Wilson Street, Fairland

Woodmead Retail Park

Like the World Wear centre, Woodmead Retail Park is actually a huge shopping centre dedicated to factory shops, rather than being one themselves. They have a Le Coq Sportif store, a Billabong Outlet, a New Balance Outlet store and even an outlet watch store. If you can’t find a deal here, you aren’t looking hard enough!

Address: Woodmead Retail Park, Corner Waterval Crescent and Woodlands Drive, Woodmead
