How Candy Wasted Started
Candy Wasted started as a shared dream. Christopher, a professional chef with a strong pastry influence, and Tanja, with a hospitality background, always had a love for the sweeter things in life, but found the usual candy stores rather boring. They registered Candy Wasted in 2012 in the hope of opening up a unique candy store. With no funds available to open their dream candy store, they decided to try starting off their dream with an online store.
Christopher and Tanja loved watching Dragon’s Den UK and when they saw the ad for Dragon’s Den SA auditions, they took a chance and entered. After going through the various stages of the screening process, they received a call confirming that they have made it to the “finals” and will get to present their business to the “Dragons”. Dragons, Vinny Lingham and Polo Leteka Radebe, offered the money they needed to started their business, and their dream came true. Candy Wasted is now a reality – it has amazing partners, a fantastic website, and loads of “Happiness in a Jar” to go around!
