Hi there,

I hate to admit it, but I am not a fan of ball sports. I had a brief stint playing netball when I was in primary school, which was a complete and utter disaster because I was always trying to help the other team. (I am a chronic people pleaser and hated lobbing the ball over some girl's head when the poor dear was trying so hard to catch it.) In high school, my parents tried very hard to get me to play tennis. But the truth is that I really couldn't see why I should stand on a tennis court for hours in the blazing hot sun hitting a ball backwards and forwards over and over again until I lost the will to live. Stephen then took it upon himself to teach me the ins and outs of Rugby but ended up not speaking to me for at least three days when I happened to mention that it's all a bit ... gay, to be honest. So you can REALLY understand my deep concern about the impending World Cup because I am really not sure how I am going to cope with soccer... (Read more)
On the upside, we have so many Public Holidays to look forward to. Here are a few ideas on how to spend all that free time!
- If you haven't yet made plans for the Easter Weekend, then take advantage of the Easter Breakaway Special at Budmarsh Private Lodge in the Magaliesberg. Not only can you book for 3 nights and receive the 4th night for free, but any 2 night booking will receive free entry into the Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary, Van Gaalen Cheese factory and Blaauwbank Historic Gold Mine over the weekend! Children are welcome too!
- Gardenex takes place at the Coca-Cola Dome this weekend. This is South Africa's biggest gardening expo and is so worth the visit, whether you are a gardener or are looking for some ideas to get you started.
- The Joburg Art Fair will be at the Sandton Convention Centre this weekend. If you are an art lover, then make a plan to visit this event that showcases the best in contemporary African art and design.
- Friday sees the launch of the Great Moscow Circus at the Big Top Arena at Carnival City. The circus has a limited run of two weeks, so make a plan to take the kids during their school holidays.
- The Nissan Easter Festival sounds absolutely fantastic. There will be a funfair and camel rides for the kids, as well as the SA Outdoor Showjumping Grand Prix and more.
Rochelle (from my sales team) has asked me to mention Instant Life. Apparently she is pretty impressed with the online quotation process which was so quick and easy, and was half the price of another quote she received. A quick look at their website revealed that they are so sure you'll save money with them that they provide a 30 day money back guarantee* that you will not find lower premiums in the market for the same cover! Sounds good to me - what have you got to lose other than the 3 minutes it will take you to get an online quotation? Click here.
Speaking of insurance, I have to take my hat off to OUTsurance for introducing their Buddy@OUT Initiative. If you are insured through OUTsurance and have had a bit too much to drink, you just call Buddy@OUT and you will be collected by a Good Fellas driver who will drive you home in your own car. Such practical way of making sure that you don't have to drive home after too much partying. Who knows how many lives will be saved. Visit the Outsurance website to found out how you can register for this service.
Be sure to have a look at our detailed Events Calendar for more of my ideas on what to do this week.
Have a fantastic week!
