With all the fantastic events taking place at Maropeng, it is definitely worth a visit this July.
Simon Gear, South Africa’s favourite weatherman, is coming to the Maropeng Hotel to talk about his new book Going Green: 365 Ways To Change Our World. The book is a step-by-step guide to help readers get involved and go green one day at a time. Go along at 18h00 to get your autographed copy, and hear him give his green tips in person.
Gear’s book gives simple tips for the office and home. Setting your printer to print on both sides, inflating your tyres correctly to save petrol, are all easy things you can do. These will not only be a step forward to saving the environment, but should lessen the drain on your wallet too.
Simon Gear is one of South Africa’s top climatologists and is a national authority on global warming and green issues. The opportunity to hear him talk about his book and give tips on how you can save the environment is an opportunity not to be missed. The evening will include a sumptuous three-course meal.
Date: Saturday, 18th of July 2009.
Venue: Maropeng Hotel
Cost: R295 per person.

Maropeng is hosting their popular Swartkrans Walking Tours again. Swartkrans, one of the Cradle’s richest fossil sites, is usually closed to the public. On the tours, small groups will have a rare opportunity to observe an active palaeontological dig and will be guided around the site by scientist Morris Sutton, who is currently excavating there.
There will be only two tours this year and groups will be restricted to 12 people (adults only). The tour will be followed by a picnic.
Dates: Saturday, 25th of July and Saturday, 29th of August 2009.
Cost: R650 per person.
