On Saturday, 17th of December 2005, The Youth Upliftment Organisation hosted a Christmas Party, which catered for 100 orphans around Ekurhuleni; the kids came from 5 informal settlements plus 2 orphanage homes (Mohau & Heartbeat). ABSA sponsored the event, the money of which was used to fully fund the whole event.
Since then the Youth Upliftment Organisations Orphan Christmas Party has grown in size and stature. The event has been held every year since 2005 now catering to over 300 orphans, the children of which come from seven informal settlements and three orphanage homes.
Youth Upliftment Organisation has increased the size of the Christmas party with the goal of reaching as many young orphans as possible but with the growth of the Party and guests, so grows the budget needed to fund the event. That is why Youth Upliftment Organisation is asking you to get involved and help these orphans to put festivity into their festive season.
This initiative is making Christmas a day for the Orphans to look forward to; a fun filled day where they can remember that family is all around them, as there are still people in this world who regard them as little brothers and sisters. This is something to celebrate for the kids.
