On Saturday evening, rapper Cassper Nyovest took to the stage at FNB Stadium in Nasrec in an attempt to follow up his epic #FillUpOrlandoStadium campaign.
After conquering the TicketPro Dome in Northriding and filling up Orlando Stadium, the leading hip hop artist set his sights on the biggest soccer stadium on the continent with a capacity of 94,736.
Although Cassper didn’t fill the stadium he still managed to sell well over 68 000 tickets – breaking a world record for most tickets sold to a live performance in Soweto (beating Justin Bieber who sold just over 50 000 tickets the last time he was here). It’s no secret, the rapper admitted he was struggling to find sponsorship, but a last minute push from Standard Bank saw tickets sales pick up. The concert was still a huge success and has lain the groundwork for the future of live music in Soweto.
