Exciting plans for Riverclub underway

Poplar Place, formerly known as the Riverclub Shopping Centre, has a new name and some exciting plans in store for residents.

The centre, found in the heart of Riverclub, is looking forward to a much-anticipated revamp and has also attracted some new tenants recently, including St Tropez Fresh Deli, Amaris Boutique and the Performance Purist gym.

“We are looking to fill our centre with tenants that can bring convenient and accessible services to the residents of Riverclub and ultimately become an established and integrated part of the community” says Stuart Woolmington, owner of Poplar Place.

Poplar Park Upgrade

Poplar Place also lies adjacent to Poplar Park, a stretch of green space currently maintained by City Parks. In recent months, Poplar Place and the residents of Riverclub, have rallied together and raised money to upgrade the park through a series of community events. Phase one of the planned upgrades is complete and the park now sports a combination of colourful playground equipment for the resident children to enjoy. Phase two will see the installation of a fence, a bike track, a walking path, soccer nets and more.

“Our plan for Poplar Place is to eventually adopt the park and include it in our renovation plans and in our offering to visitors. Part of the adoption process will be co-funding some of the upgrades and the maintenance and upkeep of the park,” says Woolmington.

Show Your Support

The tenants of Poplar Place are also showing their commitment to the community and many will have a presence at the next fundraising event taking place on Sunday, 18th March 2018 at 3pm.

Nearby communities are all invited to bring their families and picnic baskets and join in an Easter Egg hunt. There will be live music, gourmet baguettes and charcuterie boards on sale from St Tropez Fresh Deli, pizza from Danilo’s, jumping castles sponsored by Pam Golding and more. To support this initiative and build Riverclub into a better space for all, save the date and bring along your friends, family, colleagues and more.

Easter Egg Hunt

Tickets are R50 per child which includes access to the Easter egg hunt and a bucket. There will be no cover charge for adults but donations to the park project are always welcome. Raffle tickets will be on sale for various prizes, including a weekend away at The Cavern Berg Resort and a stunning Easter hamper from Fournos.
