If you’ve been looking for the ultimate foodie experience in a unique space and setting, then Workshop55 is the place to go. Nestled in the trendy area of Parktown North, the restaurant on 7th Avenue is one of many foodie hot spots in the city.
Driving into the parking lot is like entering a time machine that leads you to glam Miami in the 1930s. In the evening the venue feels whimsical and the atmosphere is definitely enchanting. It’s absolutely fabulous and best experienced first hand.
There’s a warm reception as you enter the restaurant. Unlike most food spots we’re all accustomed to, at Workshop55 you pay an entrance fee of R210 that includes three dishes of your choice. For those crazy about food and eager to try more dishes, an additional fee of R60 per dish will be charged. Needless to say, with the quality of food served at this restaurant, it’s inevitable you will want more. It’s that good.
One of our favourite dishes is the beef fillet as it’s fire-grilled with smoky aubergine, bone marrow and za’atar. Then there’s the phenomenal smoked pork knuckle, which is slow roasted with honey and soya glaze, Brussels sprouts, dukkah, and sweet potato. And because no meal is complete without dessert, the strawberry and balsamic frozen yoghurt with vanilla short bread crumb, macerated basil strawberries and strawberry gel is an absolute must-have! It’s so good you’ll find yourself asking for seconds or maybe even thirds.
What’s a good meal without the right drink to complement it? Well, whether you’re a wine fanatic, gin lover or craft beer kind of person, Workshop55 has the drink for you. With an exclusive selection of wine and whisky options, spectacular choices of gin infusions, craft beers brewed to perfection, plus select cocktails and champagne, you have definitely found your ideal watering hole.
