In less than two weeks the second FoodWineDesign, presented by Sanlam Investment Management, will take place in Johannesburg. Like last year, they will transform the rooftop parking area of Hyde Park Corner into a theatrical wonderland of tents, lights, trees and all things desirable.
The event takes place from 25 to 27 November, ticket entry is R80 for adults and free to children under the age of 12. Pre-booking tickets online will save you R30. And Friday from 1 6pm all tickets will be R60. They are open from 1pm 10pm on Friday, 10am 10pm on Saturday and 10am 5 pm on Sunday.
The Come with your bike campaign that will give visitors arriving at Hyde Park with Bicycles a 50 % reduced entry of R40. Bicycle parking facilities will be made available on the rooftop and will be secure. They are also partnering with the Joburg leg of the global cult Critical Mass movement that sees cyclists unite on the last Friday of every month to do a mass night ride through the city streets. Join Critical Mass on Friday 25 Nov and you will be rewarded with a free entry to FoodWineDesign. Visit the critical mass facebook page for details of the route and meeting point for that night. Ross Douglas, director of Arltogic, is a keen cyclist and believes Joburg has the potential to be a great cycling city and we would like to use the FoodWineDesign Fair to promote cycling.
They have upped their food and wine offering and opted for a more carefully curated approach to the design section. However, some of last years favorite designers such as Missibaba, Goet, and the Shaw Sisters will be back to show their new ranges. Other exciting participants include Durban-based furniture designer/architect Richard Stretton of Koop as well as an exclusive collaboration between furniture maker Maker and Lindie Ferreira, originator of Marion&Lindie.
On the wine front you can look forward to sampling Graham Beck, Meerlust, Tokara, Ashbourne and Vrede en Lust amongst 20 others. The We Love Real Beer collective will be collaborating with Business Day Wanted to be the most stylish place to enjoy micro brewed beers.
They have invited Bar Bar Black Sheep back for a second round of unusual treats from the Swartland together with a range of selected Swartland wines from the All Stars Collective. To add to this, visitors will be served food to eat on the roof by cooking school African Relish, Celebrity chef David Higgs and well-known foodie Neil Roake.
The FoodWineDesign Fair presented by Sanlam Investment Management is a one-stop shop for boutique Christmas shopping, stocking up for the holidays or coming together with friends for a year-end celebration.
