Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, Johannesburg will end 2018 on a festive high note this December. They have prepared a programme of culinary delights and entertaining special events to celebrate the silly season and ensure an authentic and memorable South African Christmas.

Christmas Eve – Monday, 24 December 2018
Celebrate Christmas Eve with a family dinner at Flames. There will be an à la carte menu with festive classics such as traditional roast turkey with chipolatas, cranberry stuffing and Cumberland sauce. Other mouthwatering mains include Norwegian salmon with dill mayo or grilled beef fillet with pomme reblochon, truffle and forest mushroom. Another delicious feature will be the show-stopping cheese table stacked with whole cheeses, crackers, lavash (flatbread) and delectable home-made chutneys and preserves. Guests will be entertained by the Soweto Gospel Choir, Johannesburg’s very own Grammy Award-winning Voices From Heaven. This feast is R1 200 per person.
Another option is dinner at View, which offers their famous creative presentation, sophisticated micro-seasonal dishes and inspirational local flavours with a fresh festive spin. The Christmas Eve dinner begins with spiced pumpkin buns, fruited mosbolletjies with candied pecan and pumpkin seed butter, followed by langoustine carpaccio. Next, oxtail consommé served with braised oxtail tortellini precedes lamb shoulder with truffled polenta. Milk and cookies follow with a gift of traditional spiced Christmas cake to take home. This dinner is R1 950 per person.
Christmas Day – Tuesday, 25 December 2018
At Flames, Christmas Day will be celebrated with a leisurely brunch from 10:00 to 15:00, which includes a raw bar with caviar, oysters, sushi and charred beef tataki. There’s also a charcuterie table, vegan salads and delicious cold starters. The merry choice of hot mains includes traditional roast turkey with chipolatas, cranberry stuffing and Cumberland sauce. Norwegian salmon, grilled beef fillet or braised pork cheeks with red cabbage round off the menu with a vegetarian option of ricotta gnudi. This festive feast is R1 450 per person.
Soulful acoustic-driven sounds of the musical duo Bruce & Fresk – Cameron Bruce, the singer and guitarist of Idols fame, and dazzling American jazz pianist, John Fresk – will provide the evening’s entertainment.
Christmas lunch at View is a five-course menu and dinner is a six-course menu with variations of the Christmas Eve dinner, including the langoustine carpaccio, sea bass with fennel, oxtail consommé, and traditional Christmas turkey with pistachio stuffing for mains. Christmas cake, of course, is part of the dessert menu. This lunch or dinner is R1 600 per person.
Boxing Day – Wednesday, 26 December 2018
On Boxing Day, Flames will serve an Upgrade Brunch with salads inspired by seasonal foraging in the hotel’s gardens and local farms.
New Year’s Eve – Monday, 31 December 2018
At Flames, dinner begins with a starter buffet including a live station serving sushi and oysters, as well as cured, smoked and raw options. There’s a selection of five à la carte items for the main course, including pan-seared line fish with dill mayo, and thyme and garlic roast chicken. A cheese table will be piled high with a selection of local cheeses, preserves, crackers, panettone and grapes, and of course, a selection of festive desserts to round things off on a sweet note.
Music and dancing begin at 20:00 with live music by Badwolf, a fresh five-piece band from Johannesburg known for their hip, groove-based approach and creative interpretations of well-loved hits and classics. This NYE dinner is R2 100 per person.
And of course, the View will also have something special planned! They’ll serve a special New Year’s Eve Dinner, after which guests are invited to join in the dancing, entertainment and festivities at Flames before toasting the arrival of the New Year. The dinner menu includes seeded country buns, black truffle and almond mosbolletjies with foie gras butter followed by courgette gazpacho, langoustine cappuccino, quail in the forest, and duck magret, a sous vide duck breast. As for dessert, enjoy a deconstructed peach cobbler with cinnamon and champagne. Yum! This is R2 500 per person.
Jacaranda Hill and their new venue will be transformed into an edgy setting for an epic New Year’s party. Be sure not to miss the 2 Storey Party on the Hill! For your entertainment, two DJs including Abby Nurock, famous for her extensive collection of vinyl and classic Technics, will keep the tunes pumping well into the night. What better way to usher in 2019? This party starts at 22:00 until late. VIP seating and bottle service is available. And entry? R995 per ticket.
