The stunning guys and gals behind inner-city NGO, Dlala Nje, have converted one of the top apartments in Hillbrow’s Ponte City into an events venue called 5101. One of the venue’s many goals is to immerse patrons in the glory days of the famous Ponte apartments, as well as re-introducing people to the inner city.
Carlos Santana’s Coming To Town
Guitar legend and one of the few survivors of the original Woodstock festival, Carlos Santana, is coming to Joburg in 2018. From his earliest days as a ground breaking Afro-Latin blues rock outfit to the mega chart topping collaboration of ‘Supernatural’, the sound of Carlos Santana is one of the world’s best known musical signatures. Santana’s special guest will be Mango Groove, whose career has spanned an exciting and turbulent time in the history of South Africa.
Sally Williams Sets Up Shop In Melrose Arch
Taking nougat obsession to a whole new level, the infamous Sally Williams is opening a nougat and ice cream store in Melrose Arch. The shop is modelled on their successful Mandela Square store in Sandton, so make a plan to pop in for a decadent sweet treat and a freshly brewed cup of coffee as soon as possible.
BMW Opens Up First Inner City Dealership
The German automobile megastar, BMW has opened its first branch in Newtown, a stone’s throw from the old Newtown Train Station. The dealership, which constitutes part of the Newtown precinct and green field area, had to be designed with the latest corporate identity as specified by BMW to ensure that the highest international standards were met.
The Richmond Studio Cafe
A well known newspaper editor and a documentary photographer have opened a new studio and cafe in Richmond called… yup… the Richmond Studio Cafe. You can expect face brick walls, old cameras and wooden table tops, as well as coffee, cakes, pastries and brunch menu items. We suggest trying their savoury croissants and other exciting breakfast and lunch options.
