Nelson Makamo’s Work Is On The Cover Of TIME
This is quite exciting news for South African artist, Nelson Makamo! His breathtaking portrait titled “Vision of a Limitless Future” is gracing the cover of TIME magazine’s “Art of Optimism” issue.
This TIME issue will be celebrating and suggesting ways that individuals can be inspired in our ‘right now’ through the art, dedication and beauty of artists who lead the way. From filmmakers and photographers, to authors, singers, actresses and even poets and painters, the pages of this edition are filled with people who use art to express dynamic optimism.
TIME magazine posted the cover of the “Art of Optimism” on Instagram, along with the caption: “Art is worthy of our interrogation and is, in fact, an antidote for our times“.
A Little Bit About The Artist
Nelson Makamo was born in Modimolle, Limpopo and is currently in based in Johannesburg. His works of art have been exhibited in the USA, the UK, throughout Europe and of course, South Africa. The magazine cover will be a first for the 35-year-old and he was eager to create a portrait that would introduce him and his art to the world. He spent about four months on this work of art.
