The UK and the USA have learnt from experience that EACH VOTE MATTERS! Let’s show them how it’s done when it’s our time to vote in 2019. That being said, the voting process actually begins THIS WEEKEND. Here’s what you need to know:
THE FIRST STEP
The Electoral Commission is urging all South Africa’s eligible voters to visit their voting stations over the weekend of 10 and 11 March 2018 so they can update the voters’ roll in preparation for the 2019 elections.
22 612 voting stations around the country will open to the public between 08:00 and 17:00 over the weekend in order to:
- Assist new voters with the registration process.
- Allow already registered voters who have moved to re-register in their correct voting district.
- Allow registered voters whose address details are not on the voters’ roll to provide this information or correct addresses if they are incorrect on the voters’ roll.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
Bring a copy of your bar-coded ID book, smart card ID or temporary ID certificate. (Proof of residence is NOT required.)
